Elizabeth “Betty” A. Sultan, 90, of Columbus passed from this life on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 6:40 a.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Betty was born on September 18, 1929 in Morgan County, Indiana the daughter of Chester and Jessie Smith Doty. On May 22, 1970 she married William H. Sultan.

Mrs. Sultan was a member of First Christian Church and was a homemaker. She was raised on a dairy farm in Bartholomew County and was a hardworker helping out with duties on the farm. Betty was a state women’s bowling champion, enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and working in her yard.

Survivors include her step-son, Fred (Larissa) Sultan of Oxford, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William H. Sultan on July 21, 2013; brothers, Chester, Paul, Francis, William, John, and David Doty; sisters, Mary Doty, Thelma Sutton, Alice Adams, Nellie Castner, and Twanette Brown.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Tyler Tolbert officiating.

Family and friends may call for visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and also from 9:00 a.m. till time of service on Tuesday.

Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
