Mary Pientka "Sissy" Barnett, 54, of Midlothian, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at MCV Hospital, Richmond. Born at Fort Lee, Va., she was a graduate of Prince George High School. She attended Richard Bland College, Campbell University in Dunn, N.C., and she earned a master's degree from Virginia State University. She was a special education teacher with Chesterfield County Public Schools, with 20 years previous service in Dinwiddie County, and 4 years in Columbia, S.C. She is survived by her parents, Joe and Catherine Simms Pientka of Petersburg; brother, Joe Pientka, Jr., of Tucson, Ariz.; and two nephews, Joe Pientka III, and John Pientka. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2005, in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Rd. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends 7 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
