Funeral services for Irene Barr Lowrey, 87, of Choudrant will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2007 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Officiating Services will be lifelong family friend Bill Sanderson. She will be laid to rest in Choudrant Memorial Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Irene was born on October 5, 1919 to Jesse and Cora Ramsey in the Ebenezer Community near Chatham. On October 15, 1938 she united in marriage with Iley Lyons Barr. Irene was a faithful member of Choudrant United Methodist Church for over 50 Years. She was a member of Magi Chapter #85 order of The Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron. Irene was the first Manager for Sears Roebuck & Co. in Ruston. Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Iley L. Barr; her parents Jesse & Cora Ramsey; brothers: Ernest Ramsey & Orron Ramsey, Claude Ramsey & Alvin Ramsey; sister: Marie McElroy.
Mrs. Lowrey is survived by her husband, John "Papa John" Lowrey; daughters & their husbands: Jeanette & Ernest Conn of Chatham, Barbara & W.H. George of Choudrant; son & his wife: Gary & Lori Barr; grandchildren: Charlene & T.O. Crocker of Calhoun, Tim & Melanie Conn of Boonville, MO, Ann & Ricky Houck of Choudrant, Denise & Jeff Moore of Choudrant, Mark Conn & Fiancee' Lynn Dozier of Chatham, Bobby & Staci Ambrose of Choudrant, Garrison, Claire, Ethan & Jackson Barr of Choudrant; great grandchildren: Ginny & Jade Gabb of West Monroe, Amy and Heath Crocker of Calhoun, Stephanie & Chase Conn of Boonville, MO, Rachel & James Paul Conn of Chatham, Troy Ambrose of Choudrant, and Casey & Lauren Dozier of Calhoun.
