His body indentified at Sea Girt, New Jersey. Mr. Brady was survived by his wife Adele, 53 and daughter Nancy, both of whom were aboard the Morro Castle. He died of exhaustion and exposure in their presence, Mr. Brady was an engineer for a gas company.

Edward Brady took the Morro Castle cruise, along with his wife, Adele, and daughter, for health reasons.

Nancy, 18 year old daughter disliked the Morro Castle, and asked her parents if they could skip the return leg of the voyage and fly home to Philadelphia instead. However, the booking was honored.

Bank vice-president George Whitlock walked forward through the smoke, to make sure that "old Mr. Brady" (They were of similar ages ~ presumably, Mr. Brady's undisclosed illness had aged him) and his family were awake and clear of their cabin. He found them dressed, wearing life jackets, and preparing to leave for the stern.

The Bradys jumped overboard together when the smoke became unbearble, and the storm immediately carried Nancy away. Her parents called for her, but received no answer and could not see her anywhere in the water around them.

Edward and Adele Brady soon came across Morton Lyon, Jr, of Philadelphia. He had broken his neck jumping from the ship in a life jacket, but was not yet dead. He struggled to raise his head and to breathe, and the Bradys remained with him until he died.

The couple swam together thru the storm for a time, but Mr. Brady, already weak from his illness, grew exhausted. He told his wife, several times, that he knew he would not survive, and Adele pleaded with him to hang on and not give up.

Edward Brady told his wife that he did not mind dying, but that he regretted leaving her and daughter Nancy. Shortly thereafter, he vomited up froth and fell unconscious. Mrs. Brady held on to him, and when she was pulled aboard a fishing vessel, Edward was taken with her. The crew labored over Mr. Brady, but he never revived.

Adele Brady was reunited with her daughter.
