Jack Raymond Fortson married Miss Annette Bullard on April 2, 1939.

He had lived in the Valley since 1927 and was a graduate of PSJA High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Edinburg, the Edinburg Hidalgo Masonic Lodge #1036 AF & AM, the Edinburg Kiwanis Club and associate member of the Edinburg Hospital Auxiliary.

He was in the coin-operated business with laundromats and a car wash. He established the first coin operated car was in the Valley.

He retired from the Edinburg Fire Department where he served many years as secretary-treasurer. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his wife, Mrs Annette Fortson, he was survived by a daughter, Mrs Ann Havens of McAllen; a sister; Mrs Alma Rosson of Palestine; a brother, Joe E. Fortson of Shreveport; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church of Edinburg on September 12, 1988, followed by burial in Valley Memorial Gardens.
