--He was a long time member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), being a member in churches in WV, VA and SC. In his later years he was a devout Methodist, where he held many leadership roles.
--His hobby was farming, including Angus cattle, and and nearly every tpe of fruit, nut and vegetable. He also had a talent for rose gardening.
