Arlene Joan Phillips, 81, died on January 31, 2017 with family at her side at Desert Hospital, Palm Springs after some months of failing health.

Arlene was born on October 30, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Leon Baran and Martha Baran who proceeded her in death as have her sister Dorothy Wassel, son Christopher Phillips and granddaughter Jessica Schilling. Arlene is survived by her husband Kenneth W. Phillips and six children, Kimberly Hicks, Kathy Stucki, Kenneth Phillips, Bryant Phillips, Heather Graham, Todd Phillips, nineteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and pet Canary "Captain Jack 3rd".

Arlene married her forever sweetheart Kenneth on October 19, 1955 at Saint Wenceslaus Church in Chicago, Illinois and they have been married for 61 loving years. Ken and Arlene moved to the Coachella Valley in 1972 and have been residents since moving to California.

Arlene enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher in her early years. She loved travel and staying at San Clemente cove with her husband. One of her passions was sculpted cast art which she has made many pieces. Arlene was the chair of the "Butterfly Gang" and they would enjoy ladies only time together with the girls in the family.

Mom loved flowers, art and butterflies.

We will miss you mom. We love you

A memorial was held on February 10, 2017 at Forest Lawn in her honor and will be laid to rest at Palm Springs Cemetery on Ramon Road.
