John B. Pizzini Jr., 74 of 439 Front St. Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, died Friday in Unio Hospital at Dover following a short illness.
Born August 16, 1919, at Midvale, he was a son of the late John B. Sr. and Anna M. Pauline Pizzini. Mr. Pizzini worked as a coal miner for several years, primarily at Midvale Mine, and retired in 1985 from Endres Floral Company at New Philadelphia. He was decorated veteran of World War II having served with Company C. 308th Engineer Battalion. He was member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. On October 10, 1946, he married the former Irene Menapace, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Marilyn Pizzini of the residence; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Strimbu of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Dwight (Joanne) Rhodeback of Canton and Francis Pizzini of Lansing, Kansas; several niees and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Dorothy) Abel Sr..; one brother, Joseph B. Pizzini; and by one infant brother, Virgil Pizzini.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Visitation will be Sunday anytime after 2 p.m. with the family present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. The Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
