John Eslinger Boyer Came to Indiana with his wife and family from Pennsylvania on the train, leaving a small daughter in PA that had died. They were to visit relatives in Thorntown, IN and go on to another destination, his wife Mary was tired of traveling and put her foot down that she wanted to stay where they had stopped in Thorntown, IN. They stayed in less that perfect surroundings that winter. It was a very small old house in which snow would blow into. The next year they built a nice new house just outside of Thorntown. John farmed and became very successful, he was on the board at the bank in Thorntown as well. He came down with bronchial pneumonia and died at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. I still have the hospital bill for his stay there. Due to advancing age and ill health he and his wife had been unable to stay by themselves so they were living at the home of my grandparents, Ed and FLora Boyer. His wife Mary died there before he died. He was a good man and father and husband as I heard all my life. John's parents were Johann Peter Boyer and Johanna Catherine Eslinger. His grandparents were Peter Boyer and Margaret Elizabeth Eisenselt. Both born in germany.
