Albert J. Marchal, 78, of Dennisport, a retired pipe liner and World War II veteran, died Saturday, May 6, at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis. He was born in Leopold, Ind., and raised in Mount Carmel, IL. Mr. Marchal served with the Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, he moved to Waltham and worked for Shell Oil Co. as a pipe liner along the East Coast and in the Midwest. He retired in 1979 after 33 years at Shell. Mr. Marchal moved to Dennisport upon his retirement. He had vacationed on Cape Cod for many years. Mr. Marchal was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich. Besides his wife, Bertha L. (Budreau) Marchal of Dennisport, he is survived by two sons, A. Jesse Marchal Jr. of San Marcos, Calif., and Frederick E. Marchal of Merrimack, N.H.; a brother; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, West Harwich. Burial followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Dennis. Memorial donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, I Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02116.
