Robert "Bob" Hilton Gatiss was born 15.08.1896 at - "On top of the Hill", Walkerville, west of Butte, Montana, USA., and to quote Bob himself - "and that's about as near the top of the Rockies as you can get!" He was the only child of Henry Gatiss (b 16.05.1864 – d 11.12.1946, he a native of Muirfield, County Durham, England) by his wife Rose Margaret Wilson (b 29.04.1869 – d 15.09.1966, she a native of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, England). All dates & places are exact as from Henry, Rose & Bob themselves!

Bob married Rowena May Pearson (b. 02.10.1904 in Troy, Idaho, USA) on 01.12.1935 in Moscow, Latah, Idaho, Montana, USA. The couple did not have any children.

Together, the family were the Founders of the Gatiss Gardens in Montana.

Bob wrote his Autobiography - "Memoirs of One Lifetime" - in 1993, which contained his recollections which were written over a period of 65 years. If you want to know what a 'Life lived well' looks like – then I can greatly recommend reading his book.
