JESSIE is how it is spelled here.

===============

Jessie/Jesse had 13 children with Charles Edward Walker.

"Grandma Walker" as she was known to all, was a very warm and nice person, always laughing. Jessie first moved from farm to a house up by old high school- then later to 407 Brown St. -Union, MO.

Per Grand kids memories:

Grandma Jessie ironed for the City people for a living - "from sun up to sun down.", Cooked for factory workers, babysat, and had borders upstairs - all to make money. They recall her making lye soap - she had 1/2 dirt basement - and it was filled with this soap.

She would make huge breakfasts - Large homemade biscuits, salt jowl (like bacon) and lots of fried eggs before we would go to work at the Carmo shoe factory.

There were always kids around. She was always singing and dancing, and laughing; would always go up to the open air dances held at the city park on Friday's and Saturday nights at the City Park here in Union. (MO).
She loved to dance.

Grandma Walker was married 5 times:
Charles E. Walker -
widowed, she then married Breeden - twice.
Then ____ Cunio?
Her last husband - "Louie" Danz.
He was very nice and good to grandma.

"She owned a car - and was proud of it - It was "HER car. She didn't drive - but let others drive. Many photos show her posing by this car. Well, it was stolen - and we never saw it again"

She loved her roses – had beautiful ones in front of house and on side of front porch.

?Indian ancestry.

I consider her to be the first Family Historian!
Bible of Grandma Jessie Walker has many birth dates written in it.
The last one reads:
"Little Charles - born - 3-1-1923 - he dyed (sic) at 4 mos 23 days - had 2 teeth and weighed 20lbs"

She also had many holy cards giving birth and death dates of her siblings/relatives.

She also kept copies of several obituaries.

In Union, MO, there is a subdivision south of town off Porterford Rd named in her honor - Walkers Landing. Built by descendant - Overschmidt.

Also street named Melinda after her middle name. - Located between Union and Washington, MO.
