She was born on a farm in Knoxford, New Brunswick, Canada on October 25, 1924; the daughter of the late Trueman and Florence (Bishop) Longstaff. After leaving the farm, Jeanne was a phone operator in Perth, New Brunswick before marrying her longtime love, Claude Bartley, upon his return from World War II in 1947. In 1951 they moved to Portland, ME where they raised their four children. While Claude built his construction company, Jeanne managed their investment properties. In December 1966, Jeanne became a naturalized U.S. citizen. A wonderful woman of hospitality and household talents, she enjoyed gardening, baking, and visiting any time she could with friends and family. She was the heart of every home. As a dedicated servant of the Lord, Jeanne dedicated many years of her life to her church as Sunday School teacher, Women's Ministries secretary and church treasurer. In 1992, Claude and Jeanne began wintering in Lakeland, FL. She is survived by her daughter, Myrna Googins (Howard); daughter, Gloria Hoffman (Craig); and son, Greg Bartley (Dorcas).
