"John Bailey, 92, lifelong resident of the Matoaka-Rock section and member of a pioneer family of Mercer County, died yesterday at the residence of an adopted daughter, Mrs. Effie Casey of Matoaka, with whom he had made his home for the past 30 years.
Born Jan. 7, 1856, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Amos [Anios] and Rhoda Bailey. He was a retired carpenter and member of the Baptist church. Only surviving member of the family is his brother, Phillip, of Winter Haven, Fla. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years and by two brothers and two sisters. The body will be at the Bailey Funeral Chapel at Matoaka and services are at 2 p.m. at the Princeton Methodist Church on Kee Street. Interment will be at the cemetery at Rock."
