Earl Dee Fairchilds, lifetime Checotah resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the age of 68. He was born on Sunday, March 4, 1951 in Checotah to Virgil “Nuke” and Ruby (Sexton) Fairchilds.

Earl grew up on the family farm on Texanna Rd. He attended Checotah Public Schools, graduating in 1970. Earl joined the National Guard in 1972 and served until 1976. He married Angela Mounger in 1973. Earl went to work for Checotah Water Department for 9 years. In 1986, Earl went to work for Georgia-Pacific in Muskogee where he worked as a equipment operator, retiring in 2006. At the time of his death he was working part-time for Red Dirt Environmental.

Earl enjoyed helping his parents on the family farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He will be remembered by his family as a generous man and was known to be able to fix anything. Earl will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruby Fairchilds.

Earl is survived by his 2 sons, Brian Fairchilds and Preston Fairchilds; his grandson, Spencer Fairchilds; Spencer’s mom, Joye Lane; his sister, Kathy Mann and her husband Larry; his brother, Wayne Fairchilds and his wife Linda all of Checotah. He is also survived by a niece, Becky and nephews, Danny, Dustin and Jeff.
