Clara Reed Turner Bryant, 87, of Bassett, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at home following a short battle with cancer.
She was born November 27, 1919 (Thanksgiving Day) to Elder J.T. (Tom) Turner and Ida Stone Turner, both deceased.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Nelson Bryant; two sisters, Eva T. Hill and C. Ester Turner and three brothers, Curtis, Lancaster, and Elmead Turner who was her twin brother.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mark Nolen of Bassett; her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rita P. Bryant of Roanoke; two sisters, Lula T. Fulcher of West End, N.C. and Lillie T. Doyle of Martinsville; one brother, Thomas G. Turner of Bassett; two sister-in-laws, Eliza D. Turner of Martinsville and Nelle V. Bryant of Fieldale; and her grandchildren, Ashley B. Fraley and her husband, Ray, of Roanoke, Jason Bryant of Roanoke, Paige Nolen of Bassett, and Andrew Nolen of Bassett.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Services Bassett Chapel and other times at the home at 171 Northview Circle, Bassett. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home Bassett Chapel with Elder Clarence Stone and the Rev. Jim Alsop officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Knob Primitive Baptist Church, care of Raymond Joyce, Jr., 6785 Oak Level Road, Bassett, VA 24055.
