Franklin O. Jurgens, 89

Franklin was born June 7, 1930 in rural Beatrice, Nebraska to Frank and Henrietta (Probst) Jurgens. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1947 and was married to Beverly Brauch on December 23, 1950. They were blessed with 3 children and 68 years of marriage.

In March 1952 he was drafted into the Marine Corps where he served with the Third Marine Division FMF until March 1954.

He was employed with the Lincoln Telephone Company for 40 years.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran church in Beatrice. Life Member of the VFW Post 1007 Beatrice, Permanent Member of American Post 27 Beatrice where he was a 65 year member and participated in the Legion's Honor Guard for many years. Franklin enjoyed volunteering to drive the VA van transporting veterans to the Lincoln VA hospital. He also helped at the Beatrice food pantry for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, playing accordion, playing games with children and grandsons.

Franklin O Jurgens, 89 years of age of Beatrice, Nebraska passed away December 16, 2019 at home with family.

Left to honor his memory are his wife; children, Dennis and Anita Jurgens from Connecticut, Sara Fisher and George Bouckenooghe from California, Jan and Ken Dohmen from Iowa; grandsons, Caleb and Kade Dohmen and brother, Ivan Jurgens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Henrietta Jurgens; brothers, Henry, David, and Harm Jurgens and sisters, Nora Maschmeier, Lena Ahern, Grace Lloyd, Fannie Hall, Sophia Anderson, Annie Van Laningham, Della Rector, Emma Inman and Dorothy Gunther.

A private family graveside service at Evergreen Home Cemetery will be held with Sharon Schuster officiating. Military Honors provided by the Bitting-Norman post 27 of the American Legion.
