Quincy resident Alice Josephine Darr passed from this life peacefully with her family and caregivers at her side on the family ranch in Quincy, California Monday evening, April 27th, 2009. Alice had just turned eighty seven years old nine days prior to her passing on April 18th. A native of Oroville, California she moved with her family to Quincy in 1931 where she attended school and graduated as a member of Quincy High School's "Class of 1940". Shortly following her graduation she married Barnett A. Darr on July 27th, 1940 in Quincy. To this holy union four sons and two daughters were born. The family relocated to Sacramento, CA in 1951 and Alice resided there until returning to Quincy in 1985. Alice loved her time on the Norton Ranch on the outskirts of Quincy, especially attending to her beautiful Begonias. Talented at all types of crafts she found great pleasure in quilting. In passing Alice leaves her sons: Joel Darr of Reno, Nevada, Thomas Darr of Sacramento, CA, Dannie Darr of Sparks, Nevada and George Darr of Quincy, CA, daughters; Dena Lorraine Darr-Henry of Cornelius, Or. and Diana LaVern Eby of Portland, Oregon, sisters; Cora Paterino of Silver Springs, Nevada, June Norton of Chico, CA and Dorothy Waters of Truckee, CA, fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren all so very precious in Alice's heart. She joins her husband Barnett Darr who passed from this life in 1985 in their eternal home along with two brothers and one sister. Private family services will take place at a later date. Inurnment will take place in the Clear Creek Cemetery in Pentz, CA.
