George A. Acker of Southampton, Pennsylvania died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 61 years old. George was born December 20, 1958 in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, son of the late Walter J. Acker and the late Anna Elizabeth Acker (nee - Daubert). He was the husband of Kathy Acker (nee - Streng), father of Cynthia Steever and her husband William III, Ashley Acker, Michelle Rhodes and her husband Kevin, and George Acker Jr.; brother of Frederick Acker and his wife Judy, the late Walter Acker, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Dorothy Schwartz and her husband Robert, and Scott Acker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

George was a 1977 graduate of William Tennent High School. He met Kathy at his family’s hardware store, in Rockledge, PA, where she worked. He often joked he “found her in the card aisle”. The two were married at Assumption BVM Church in July of 1985. He was a self-employed general contractor. George enjoyed woodworking and had a lifetime admiration of amateur “Ham” radio. He received his technician’s radio license in April of 2015 and achieved amateur extra status in April of 2016. He held the call sign of KC3ESH and was current President of the Warminster Amateur Radio Club.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, December 28, 2019 beginning at 9:00 A.M. with a funeral service at 10:30 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 West County Line Road, Feasterville, PA 19053. Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Rob Bloss from Covenant Church, 4000 Route 202, Doylestown, PA 18902.
