Bernice M. (Lohman) Barrett, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Valley View Home in Glasgow, Mont.
She was born on June 28, 1927, in Marion, N.D., to Bennie and Erma Lohman, as the oldest of three girls. She graduated from Malta High School in 1946.
She married Hank Morgan on Nov. 28, 1946. He passed away from a fatal car accident on July 4, 1950.
She married Bernard Boreson on March 25, 1952. They lived on the Boreson farm in Tampico, west of Glasgow. There they raised two boys, Bennie and Scott. They enjoyed visiting and celebrating with friends and neighbors through music, food and games. Bernard was diagnosed with cancer; Bernice and the boys took care of the cows, chickens and farming. Bernard passed away on Feb. 5, 1976.
Bernice married Duane Barrett on April 10, 1981. They lived on the farm until November of 1987 when they moved to Glasgow. They enjoyed time with their family, playing cards and traveling the country together. Duane passed away on Oct. 7, 2007.
She belonged to the Valley County CowBells, VFW Auxiliary, Friends of the Pioneer Museum and the First Lutheran Church. She was the Clerk of School District #14, Tampico. She was loyal to all those around her and enjoyed people, serving coffee or tea and cookies for anyone who came to visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Erma; a stepfather, James Murphy; three husbands, Hank, Bernard and Duane; and one sister, Betty Ohs.
Survivors include one sister, Marilyn Widhalm and her husband, Art; children, Ben Boreson and his wife, Connie, and Scott Boreson and his wife, Myrtle; four grandchildren, Brodie Boreson and his wife, Lindsey, Bo Boreson and his wife, Crystal, Jake Boreson and his wife, Shanda, and Emma Kuester and her husband, Andrew; five great-grandchildren, Sam, Brynlie, Bentley, Bree and Layla; and many nephews and nieces who will miss her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, with Pastor Stan Hoobing officiating, followed by a luncheon, also at the First Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pioneer Museum, the First Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
