Edith B. Gorsica, 83, of 112 East Main St., Beckley, died of natural causes, Monday, June 16, 1997, in a Beckley care center. Born July 14, 1913, in Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Nina D. Conner Bruster.

Mrs. Gorsica was a pharmacist, retiring from White Cross Pharmacy, was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, attended Martha Washington College and was a graduate of Louisville College of Pharmacy.

She was a 60-year member of the West Virginia State Pharmaceutical Association, was a board member of the West Virginia Bowling Association for 16 years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the West Virginia Bowling Association.

She was a member of the United Methodist Temple, Beckley, the Women's Society of Christian Service and Circle No. 1 of the United Methodist Temple and the Beckley Women's Club.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Gorsica [former surname Gorczyca, former MLB baseball pitcher for Detroit Tigers], Jr., of Beckley; a son, John J. Gorsica, III, and his wife Mary Agnes of Waynesboro, Va.; a sister, Mary Alice Mayse of Beckley; a granddaughter, Angela N. Gorsica of Chicago, Ill.; and a grandson, John J. Gorsica, IV, of Waynesboro, Va.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bob Loudermilk, A.K. Minter, Jr., King Minter and Sam Worley.

Donations of sympathy may be made to the United Methodist Temple, 3871 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, W.Va. 25801.
