Obituary
Plymouth - Frances (Freeman) Pratt, 85, of Plymouth and Carver, died Friday, Sept. 7.
She was the wife of James "Wimpy" E. Pratt.
Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Maude (Hatch) Freeman.
She was raised in Plymouth and was a Class of 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School.
After graduation she attended Brockton School of Nursing and worked as a nurse at the
Jordan Hospital in Plymouth for 34 years.
Mrs. Pratt and her husband moved to Carver in 1978.
She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the
Disabled American Veterans and for Girls State.
She is survived by her son, Edward G. Pratt of Plymouth; two daughters, Kathleen Green
Butler of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Arleen Hayes of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; and many
nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late James E. Pratt and the sister of
the late Arthur W. Freeman Jr., Gilbert Freeman and Bertha Short.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. at Shepherd Funeral Home,
116 Main St., Carver. Burial will be in the Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m.
