She was born March 19, 1909 in Litchfield, the daughter of Orville and Fanney Forbes Blakley.
She married Darrell Ward and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1929. Helen later married Ralph Brooks on March 4, 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Norma Jean Ward and Joyce Brooks; one great-grandson, Joshua Brooks; two sisters, Elizabeth Moulton and Florence Geddes; three brothers, Duane, Lyle and Gordon Blakley.
Surviving are four children, Jo Ann (Al, deceased) Westburg of Crookston, MN, Jerry (Carlene) Brooks of Auburn, Jann (Rita) Brooks of Green Valley, AZ, Janice (Chuck) Whited of Arenzville, seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Helen worked at Auburn Flower Shop for 30 years and was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 1pm till 3pm at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn. Graveside services will be held at a later date with a memorial luncheon to follow.
Memorials may be made to the Auburn Emergency Squad or the Auburn Ambulance.
Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn is in charge of arrangements.
