Citra - William J. Crosby, 80, died Saturday, February 17, 2007. He was born in Ocala and had been a lifetime resident of Citra. He was a retired rancher and citrus grower and a member of Citra United Methodist Church, the Citra Improvement Society and Citra Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a graduate of West Point and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was an engineer who enjoyed building projects. His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joyce R. Crosby of Citra, his daughters and son-in-laws, Jill Ellis (Tommy) and Laurie Ward (Bill) all of Citra, Annie West (Stanton) of Orlando and Mary Lynn Smith (Kitch) of Green Cove Springs; his sisters, Betty C. Stillwell of Havana, FL and Peggy C. Reynolds of Franklin, NC; and his nine grandchildren, Jeremy and Daniel Ellis, Michael and Tyler Ward, Hunter, Ashley and Luke West and Jessica and Victoria Smith. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Citra United Methodist Church with Rev. Jodi Hopkins and Rev. George Holston officiating.Interment will be in Citra Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at HIERS FUNERAL HOME, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Citra United Methodist Church of the Citra Historical Society.
