Harold A. Daley, 68, of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday at Vassar Hospital after a brief illness.

Born here on Jan. 29, 1912, he was the son of William J. and Anastasia Delaney Daley, and attended St. Peter's School.

He was married on May 30, 1936, at the former Nativity Church in Poughkeepsie to Anna Marie McCrief Daley, who survives.

A lifelong Poughkeepsie resident, he had retired in 1977 as an operating engineer with Local 137 for Briarcliff Manor, and was a former engineer for the New York Central Railroad. Mr. Daley was a member of the Exempt Firemen's Association and St. John the Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, William and Terrence; a daughter, Mrs. Sis Scheltmeyer; a brother, John Daley; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave., Poughkeepsie. Prayers will be offered Monday evening.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 9 a.m. from the funeral home to St. John's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
