Charles Fenton "Fox" Dawson, age 81, of Trigg County, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 28, 2019. He was born December 30, 1937, in Roaring Spring, to the late Almont Dawson, Sr. and the late Agnes Miller Dawson.

A retired lifelong farmer, Fox grew up knowing the meaning of hard work on the family farm. In school, he was a member of 4-H and FFA and would later go on to be recognized as Kentucky Farmer of the Year in 1967, 1968, and again in 1974. As an active and devoted father, he coached his kids' baseball and softball teams for many years. He served on the Trigg County Board of Education for 12 years and was recognized as a Kentucky Colonel for outstanding service to his community. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Roaring Spring Christian Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, church secretary, and deacon for many years, and loved his church family. He enjoyed hunting and loved to sit in the woods and quietly listen to the sounds of turkey. Most of all, he loved his family, friends, and neighbors, and enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Fenton Dawson and Tony Parrish; a brother, Mont Dawson, Jr.; and two sisters, Louise Thomas and Mary Agnes Gaylord.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Williams Dawson of Cadiz; two sons, Layton Dawson of Cadiz, and Mont (Kecia) Dawson of Louisville, Kentucky; a daughter, Pam (Deano) Oliver of Roaring Spring; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Dawson of Lexington, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, Chelsea (Cole) Oliver Lambert, Carly (Joey) Oliver Deck, Maddie Dawson, Chase Dawson, Josh Dawson, Dillon Dawson, Lexie Dawson, Lanie Dawson, Cody Parrish, Alec Parrish, and Alayna Parrish; six great-grandchildren, Kiley Lambert, Dawson Lambert, Charlie Parks, Adrian Parks, Carter Dawson, and Brinley Dawson; a sister, Betsy Wall of Hopkinsville; and his faithful dog Toby.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020. A graveside memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Dawson Family Cemetery, with Rev. Eric Harris officiating
