Brenda Sue Hicks Addair, age 63 of Bessemer City, NC formerly of McDowell County, WV died Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at her home. Born September 13, 1956 at Welch, WV she was a daughter of the late Samuel “Sam” Hicks and Bonnie Lee Sheets Hicks. Brenda enjoyed the simple things in life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. She loved going to the beach on family vacations and taking care of her dog, Tucker. She had a soft spot for animals, which led to her caring for cats. She was a wonderful cook, took great pride in her home, family and where she came from. Brenda always found humor in every situation, even if others couldn't see it. She had a contagious laugh, a heart as big as the sky and was adored by her family. Before she retired recently, Brenda worked for Advance Auto Parts Distribution in Gastonia, NC for 17 years.

She is survived by her son, Justin Addair and wife, Porsha of Princewick, WV; sisters, Linda Hicks and husband, Lawrence of Mooresville, NC, Shelby Tucker and husband, Stephen of Tazewell, VA, Samantha Lowe and husband, Charles, Crystal Hicks and fiancé, Robert Wilson, and Melissa Hicks all of Rockwell, NC; brothers, Samuel Hicks and wife, Jane of Gastonia, NC, Terry Hicks and wife, Annette of Bessemer City, NC, and John Hicks of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren, Eden, Sawyer, Kendall, and Max; special friends, Trent and Danell of Kendallville, IN; she was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Bluefield, VA where graveside committal services will be conducted at 2 PM with Pastor Carlos Hess officiating.
