He graduated from Hibbing High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. While in the service, he was a hydraulics instructor at Kessler Field in Biloxi, Miss. He had worked for Remington Hardware and retired from Abe Matthews Engineering Company in Hibbing. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Swan Lake Country Club, the American Legion Post 307 in Nashwauk, the Nashwauk Retirement Club, and was a past member of the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman and a fly rod expert who gave fly fishing lessons. At one time he owned his own airplane and had held a private pilot's license.
John is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; great- nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Joe, Frank and Albert Borelli.
