Thomas "Oma" Hafenecker was a member of the GSG 9, an elite anti-terror special forces unit of the german federal police. Hafenecker was killed in an ambush, while providing security escort for diplomats of the german embassy in Jordan. Also killed in the same ambush was his fellow brother in arms Tobias "Ärmel" Retterath.

As of this day, the german government was unable to retrive his remains in Iraq, and his earthly remains are considered lost.
