BARTKOWIAK, Barbara Carole – Of Grand Blanc, age 74, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Mr. Nathanael DeSota officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lake Fenton School District to be used for IT Scholarship in Barbara's name c/o Michael Bartkowiak. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Barbara was born at Flint General Hospital in Flint, Michigan on February 25, 1945, the daughter of the late Edward Junior and Lucille Irene (Poole) Arseneault. She married Richard Alan Bartkowiak on February 27, 1965 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Clio, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1999. Barbara was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was devoted to her family. She had a passion for computer technology. She started her career in 1988 at GISD and as her knowledge grew, so did her responsibilities, eventually becoming the Technology Director for GISD. Barbara and 2 other colleagues formed a technology consulting company in 1999, ultimately accepting the offer of District Technology Director of Lake Fenton Schools in 2002, retiring in 2015. Surviving are 3 children, Dawn (Dale) George, Ann (Timothy) Sevo and Michael (Michelle) Bartkowiak; 9 grandchildren, Alan (Jenn), Matthew, Heather (Jeremy), Katie (Michael), Ryan, Mary (Alexander), Cassidy, Courtney (Tim) and Cameron, 3 great-grandchildren, Jay, Patrick and Arya; sister, Christine (Perry) Brown; brother-in-law, Ronald Husted; sister-in-law, Janet (Carl) Thomas;
several nieces and nephews. Barbara was
preceded in death by her husband, Richard; granddaughter, Nicole; sister, Sally and her parents.
