Early in life she united with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church remaining a life time member. She received her early education in the Monroe County School system, and did further studies at Selma University, Selma, Alabama. For a period of time she moved to Boston, MA where she continued her studies receiving the Masters Degree in Business. She was employed as a secretary with the South End Neighborhood Tutorial Action Program. Returning home she was employed as a substitute teacher in the Monroe County School system. She was also employed as a nurse assistant with Monroe Manor. She became active again in the work of the church. She sang in the choir and participated in the local District Congress of Christian Education.
She was a member of Ruth's Choice Chapter #821, Order of Eastern Stars, Perdue Hill, AL.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Denise Malone Mayhand, her parents, Rev. Dayton & Samantha Malone, and step mother, Mrs. Irene Thames Malone. Four sisters: Mary C. Jefferson, Emmaline Lathan, Samantha E. Mayhand, Alice F. Malone. One brother, Joel Malone.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters and three brothers: Corstella French, Mattapan, MA, Annie L. Anderson, Randolph, MA, Jennie V. Jackson, Tucson, AZ, Rev. John O. (Maggie A.) Malone, Monroeville, AL, Ben W. (Jeanette) Malone, Monroeville, AL and Leon H. (Barbara) Malone, Seaford, DE. One god-son, Evan Rashad Dean, a special friend, Debra Allen. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
