Obit: Charles Paul Kuhlmann, son of Fred and Anna Kraft Kuhlmann, was born on Feb 14, 1909 on the farm west of Chester and died Jan 12, 1990 at his home at the age of 80 years. He was baptized on Feb 28, 1909 and confirmed in 1922 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Chester and was a member there his entire life. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman`s League, a charter member of the Byron Lions Club and a member of the polled hereford association. He received his education at the cracker box rural school west of Chester. He was united in marriage to Ella S. Weers on Jan 10, 1932 and to this union three children were born: Mary Ann, Karis, and Sharon. He lived west of Chester for most of his life and was engaged in farming and raising polled herefords until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vernon, of Greeley, Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Ella; his children, Mrs. Mary Ann Thornton and her husband Kirby of Gladstone, MO; Karis Kuhlmann and his wife Shirley of Chester, Mrs. Sharon Thomas of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren: Ricky Thornton, Sandy Thornton, Scotty Kuhlmann, Tammy Gibson, Robby Kuhlmann, Charles Thornton, Sally Contreras, and Michele Kuhlmann; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Wilbert Kuhlmann of Chester, now a patient at teh Republic County Long Term Care in Belleville KS and Leonard Kuhlmann of Chester, several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the St John Lutheran Church of Chester on Mon Jan 15 at 2PM, conducted by Pastor Kris Rebentisch. Interment was made in St. John Lutheran Cemetary east of Chester.
