Josephine was born in Melcher, IA and graduated from Melcher High School in 1933. She graduated from AIB and worked in Washington D.C. and overseas during and after the war years. Josephine married Walter E. Adams and they had two children, who were Josephine's "pride and joy". Josephine had a passion for gardening, was a top notch baker and loved animals. Josephine was a devout Catholic all of her life and has now entered her eternal home.
Josephine is survived by her son, Frank Adams of Des Moines; daughter and son-in-law, Helen Adams and Jeff Mertes of Pleasant Hill; four sisters, Helen Gasparovich , Vera Gasparovich , Elizabeth Gasparovich , and Christina Christensen, all of Des Moines; brother-in-law, Byron "Pete" Christensen; 10 nieces and nephews; and her beloved Sheltie "Mac". She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters, Eva Marie, Frank, Tony, Vic, and Mary Gasparovich and Louise Seaman.
Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. Augustin's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday at Westover Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Vigil service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
