Elizabeth Hosmer Knott Saltsman “Betsy”, age 76, of Fonda, passed away peacefully, Saturday January 11, 2020 at home.

She was born in Gloversville on July 1, 1943 a daughter of the late Edwin H. and Jessie Kate Sands Knott.

Betsy was a graduate of Mayfield High School and attended Utica College.

She was employed with GTE where she met her husband and was a teacher’s aide at Fonda-Fultonville Schools for many years until her retirement.

Betsy loved to travel with close family and her friends from Seniors and was able to visit many countries and much of the United States. She also enjoyed studying family genealogy, her flower garden, and many craft projects.

She was a member of the Glen Mohawk Senior Citizens and at one time served as Secretary.

On August 23, 1969 she was united in marriage to Lyman J. “Jake” Saltsman Sr. Jake passed away on May 19, 1997.

Betsy is survived by her son Lyman J. Saltsman Jr., his wife Meredith and their son Clayton, one brother Edwin Knott, nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brother Jack Sands.

Interment will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
