M. Elsworth Triggs was born in Paris, Washington County, Iowa, December 2, 1866. At the age of two years he moved with his parents to Dakota City, Nebraska, and two years lived on a homestead in Dixon County. Here he grew to manhood, and was married to Livia Hoopingarner. After a brief married union, the young wife died, leaving a baby girl two years old. In 1896 he moved to Mississippi, where he met Cora Hiscox, daughter of D. P. Hiscox, of this city, whom he married in 1899, in Cherokee, Iowa. Mr. Triggs has been engaged in this city, for the past twenty-six years, as a contractor and builder. his one ruling passion was his love for his family, for whom no sacrifice was too great, and for whom he poured out the last measure of his strength and devotion. Second to this was his love for the church. He joined the Baptist church of this city, when he first came here, and he has been a loyal supporter of its interests ever since. He passed away in the arms of his wife and two daughters, Monday morning at 9:45, September 28, 1925, aged fifty-eight years, nine months and five days. He leaves to mourn his loss: his wife and five children: Mrs. Verlie Mayseles, of Laurens, Iowa; one son, Byrel of Storm Lake; Mrs. Mignonette Renit of Des Moines; Violet who is engaged in concert work, in the East, and Roselea, who still resides at home. He also leaves three brothers, Owen, of Allen, Neb.; Earnest, also of Allen, and William, of Dakota City, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Loah Benton of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. May Miles, of Seattle Wash., and Lucy Holbrook of Sioux City. There is one half brother, R. C. Caulk of Allen, Neb.
