WHITE DEER - Harold "Snake" Reid, 68, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa with Don Stone, White Deer Church of Christ minister, and Jerry Dorman officiating. Burial will be in White Deer Cemetery in White Deer with Masonic graveside rites by Top O'Texas Masonic Lodge No. 1381 AF & AM of Pampa and Faith Masonic Lodge No. 1158 AF & AM of Wichita Falls and military graveside rites by the Texas Army National Guard. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mr. Reid was born Jan. 20, 1939, in Wheeler. He married Gwen Brittain on June 16, 1972, in Pampa. He had been a resident of White Deer since 1983.

He was a member of the Top O'Texas Masonic Lodge No. 1381 AF & AM and the Lubbock Scottish Rite Consistory. He was a member of the Pampa-Borger SFOA Chapter for 25 years, and the Pampa SBOA for 25 years. He was a veteran of the Texas National Guard, serving 30 years. He retired from Cabot Corp. in 2000 after 41 years of service as a schedule planner. He was a Church of Christ member. He served on the White Deer City Council from 2001 to 2003.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Opal Reid.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Reid; two sons, Britt Giles Reid and wife Tiffany of White Deer and Brandon Lee Reid and wife Bree of Amarillo; two grandsons, Nate Reid and Levi Reid ; three sisters, Jo Evelyn Johnson of Iowa Park, Winnie Delores Dodge of Naples and Linda Kay McNelly of Lubbock; and two special sisters-in-law, Evaleen Anderson and Lynn Neely, both of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114-7448.
