Gene was born October 3, 1956 in Mattoon; the son of Harold L. and Carolyn Sue (Wheeler) Gast. He was an avid Horseman and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Gene loved his family very much.
Gene is survived by his sons, Josh Gast of Sullivan, Jacob Gast of Sullivan, and Chris Gast of Mattoon; brother, Loren Gast of Mattoon; sisters, Kathy Houghland of Raymond, Becky Dossett of Toledo, and Patty Lovell of Florida.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and 1 daughter, Gina Jo.
