Eugene M. Bartholomew, 83, passed away peacefully June 25, 2016, surrounded by four generations of family, at Spring Valley Hospital. He was born Dec. 8, 1932, in Colusa, Calif., and spent most of his young years in Willows, Calif., where he graduated from Glenn County High School in 1950. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 during the Korean War. He moved to Las Vegas in 1960 and worked at the Test Site until 1971, when he went to work at the Riviera Hotel as a maintenance engineer for 29 years until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Bartholomew; and older brother, Leo Bartholomew. He is survived by his wife, Marlys (Bobbi); sister, Carol Cameron (B.C.) of Willows, Calif.; brother, Jerry Bartholomew of Los Banos, Calif.; three children, Leon Vermillion (Kathy) of Lincoln, Neb., Linda Nagel (Ken) of St. George, Utah, and Terri Vermillion of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren, Richard, Paul, Lori, Wendi, Monica, Grant, Derek, Jeff and Jimmy; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Davis Funeral Home, 1401 S. Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 111 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89102. In lieu of flowers, please honor him by making a donation to Christ Lutheran Jolly Quilters and Lutheran Social Services. Please feel free to wear red, white and blue in honor of Gene's Navy service.
