Charles A. Steele, a good Christian man, passed peacefully November 29, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Steele. He is survived by his sister, Betty Morgan of Decatur, a daughter Sunny Eileen Korman of Barnesville, son Arthur Alexander Steele of Loganville, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was born September 27, 1924 the youngest of eight children and the son of Congressman Leslie Steele and wife Ruby. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Corp. Later he was the owner of a Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream franchise and businessman. He was an active and devoted member of the Decatur First United Methodist Church and a long time member of the Men's Garden Club of Atlanta. A humanitarian at heart, Charles was part of the Emory Alzheimer's Research Program for over 15 years which he donated his time and his remains to this worthy cause. A noble gift he left us with. There will be a memorial service December 12, 2010, in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Decatur at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Ministries. Arrangements by Floral Hills Funeral Home, Tucker, 770-491-3021.
