BILLY ERNEST MARVEL, 93, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away at Cisne Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Saturday, January 18, 2020.

Billy was born July 1, 1926. He was the youngest of eight children of Dalte and Amy Celeste Marvel of Elm River Township.

Billy is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Eva (nee Mossburger) Marvel, one daughter Melody (Scott) Cravens; three grandchildren Rylan, Briar, and Amy Celeste, named after Bill’s mother, who was born one hundred years before her. Also surviving is one stepdaughter Jeanne (Cedric) Johnson; five step grandsons Sam (Nicki) Spicer, Scott and Charles Johnson and Aaron and Austin Cravens.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and one stepdaughter Cara (Steve) Spicer.

Billy was a member of the Fairfield Wesleyan Church and an avid Bible Reader. While wintering in Florida, he had a large adult Bible class. He has been a song leader, special singer, and, also loved to sing old country songs.

He joined the Marines in 1945 and served until WWII was ended.

Always an athlete, he loved golf and pool. He drilled oil wells for various oil companies for forty years and loved it.
