THE STATE newspaper (Columbia, SC) Dec 15, 1929 - Allen M. Wyse, well known Columbia, died at 9:30 Saturday morning at the Confederate home. He was born in Newberry County, near Prosperity, May 24, 1946, and moved to Columbia in 1897 where he had since made his home.

He was a Confederate veteran, enlisting in the army at the age of 17 and served until the close of the war when he was mustered out at Greensboro, N. C. He was also one of the few surviving members of Camp Hampton, United Confederate Veterans. Few people have a greater number of friends than Mr. Wyse had. He was always friendly and kind to mourn his passing. He was the oldest living member of Ebenezer Lutheran church and form many years he was on of the most active. To a large extent he was instrumental in the building of the present Sunday school building which was completed in 1912. He was a life member of the church council.

Mr. Wyse is survived by two sons, Fred C. Wyse of Spartanburg and Joseph H. Wyse of Virginia; a daughter, Mrs. V. L. Norman, Lutheran missionary in Japan.
