Sir Charles Daniel Cave, 1st Bt. was born on 17 September 1832. He was the son of Daniel Cave and Frances Locock. He married Edith Harriet Symonds, daughter of John Addington Symonds and Harriet Sykes, on 1 September 1859.1 He died on 29 October 1922 at age 90.
He graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.) He held the office of High Sheriff of Bristol in 1863. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Gloucestershire, the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Devon, the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Gloucestershire.He was a director of the Union of London and Smith's Bank Ltd and he was created 1st Baronet Cave, of Sidbury Manor, Devon [U.K.] on 21 July 1896. He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1898.
