Elizabeth Viola Witmer, 91, of St. Anne's Home, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, died at the home Monday morning after an illness. Known to friends as "Biz," Mrs. Witmer was a seamstress for 40 years at Kahn-Lucas Manufacturing Co., Columbia. She was a member of First Church of God, Columbia. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Annie Bongart. Her husband, Irvin D. Witmer Sr., died in 1980. Surviving are a son, Irvin Jr., husband of Mary Stoner Witmer of Columbia; two daughter, Leonora "Lee" J., wife of John Herrington of Elizabethtown, and Betty Marie, wife of Donald C. Hoch of York; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Robert Nissley of Columbia. (Lancaster New Era - Nov 30, 1999)
