Knoxville - Thelma Nora Clapp Davis, age 101, passed away August 1, 2021 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. She was a member of Corryton Baptist Church for over 80 years where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, played the piano, and was very active in missions. After graduating from Gibbs High School Thelma attended the University of Tennessee where she received a teaching certificate. She was a member of the Volettes and marched with the band. She was employed by Knox County teaching first and second grades in the same classroom. Thelma was preceded in death by husband, Doyle M. Davis; parents, Jesse and Hattie Clapp; step-mother, Stella Clapp; brothers, Clyde Clapp and Paul Clapp; sister, Merle Julian and grandson, Brian Wright.

The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 7pm. Dr. Damon Patterson will be officiating. Graveside service will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 11am at Greenwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Morning Pointe for the excellent care provided to Thelma and a special thanks to Ruth Zachary. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Tennessee Baptist Children Homes, P.O. Box 2206 Brentwood, TN 37024 or Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, 1012 14th St. NW Suite 500, Washington, DC 20005.
