Elizabeth Brooks November 20, 1928 - January 27, 2020

Elizabeth Brooks, 91, of Guymon passed away Monday afternoon, January 27, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The daughter of Spencer and Nellie Quesenbury, Mary Elizabeth was born November 20, 1928 in Hitchland, Texas. She lived there and attended school there until the 8th grade when they moved close to Guymon and she graduated from Guymon High School with the Class of 1947. In her 20’s she accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized.

She was united in marriage to R.T. Brooks on December 24, 1949 at Clayton, New Mexico.
He passed away in 2009.

She was a housewife and had worked for J.C. Penney’s and Zellers Jewelry. Elizabeth joined the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough in 1997. Elizabeth and R.T. enjoyed flying in their plane, fishing and camping in the mountains for several years.

In addition to her husband, R.T. Brooks, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Lelia Freeman and Lorene Hudson; and four brothers: Harrison, Clarence, Sammie and Hollis Quesenbury.

Elizabeth is survived by one son, Berry Brooks and wife, Diane of Pampa, Texas; two daughters: Sherry Brooks of Pampa, Texas and Shawna and husband, Arnoldo Portillo of Guymon; her thirteen grandchildren: Michael Adams and wife, Mia, Lisa Barnum, Lori Brooks, Earl Gothier and wife, Cindy, Sarah Savoir, Tarah and husband, James Burnett, Heather Blackburn and husband, Joe, Terry Brooks, Lacey Brooks, Derek Portillo, Dylan Portillo, Danica Portillo and Kira Oliver; 16 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Coaleen Quesenbury of Hooker, along with numerous cousins and nieces and nephews, including Lue Dean and husband, Delton of Coleman, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, January 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the Morning Star United Methodist Church with Pastor Max Whipple officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.
The Brooks family will greet friends on Thursday evening, January 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.
