He is the son of the late James Franklin Adair and Eula Rasnick Adair.
He was a disabled coal miner and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Franklin Adair III.
Survivors, his wife, JoAnn Collins Adair; daughter Cheryl Adair; grand-sons, Cody and James Franklin Adair, IV; daughter-in-law, Pamela Wolfe Adair; grand-daughter, Cassandra Adair; sisters, Nancy Wingo, Wilma Ward, and Phyllis Knox; brothers, W.K. Adair and Robert Adair; and special friends, Jim Quesenberry and Bruce Parker.
Service at 11 a.m. December 1, 2005 at Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Long officiating.
Burial in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Virginia.
