THOS. LONGSHORE SR., DEAD.
Came Here From Ohio Several Years Ago Lived in This City.
Yesterday afternoon at 3:30 at the residence of Martin Brown, occurred the death of Grandfather Longshore. He lived here with his daughter, Mrs. Martin Brown, at 702 Couch street. The deceased would have been 90 years old his next birthday, June 8th. He with his wife and youngest son, Howard, came to Kansas from Perry county, Ohio, in 1881 and settled on a farm near Hiattville, where they resided for some time. He afterwards bought property in the little town of Hiattville where the deceased lived until 1891, when his wife died. After her death he broke up house-keeping and lived with his sons or daughter. He has lived most of the time with his son in Kansas City. Last year he lived at Pawnee with another son and during the winter he came to this city where he lived with a daughter until his death yesterday. The deceased had been ill for the past two months but was thought yesterday to be getting better, lie suffered a relapse yesterday about 3 oclock and died at 3:30 without a struggle apparently going to sleep. His son William, left here yesterday at 2:45 and was informed by telegraph last evening of his fathers death and arrived on the 10:05 Frisco train from Pawnee. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Griffin from the residence of Mrs Martin Brown at 12 oclock today and the remains will be shipped to Hiattville for burial where his wife was buried eleven years ago. Six children survive to mourn the loss of a father. They are William Longshore, of Pawnee, George Longshore, of Grand Junction, Col. Howard Longshore, of Kansas City, Mo., Ike Longshore, of Columbus, Ohio, Charles Longshore, of McDonald county, Mo. and Mrs. Martin Brown, of this city.
