GRACE M. JENNINGS
Grace Mathilda Jennings, of Dixon, was born on October 17, 1914, in Pulaski County, a daughter of James Riley and Sara Adaline (Davis) Campbell, and departed this life on Monday, March 6, 2006, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab, Dixon. Mrs. Jennings had attained the age of 91 years, four months, and 19 days.
Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Forthman in 1949; her second husband, Arthur Jennings in 1969; four brothers: Joe Campbell, Riley Campbell, Archie Campbell and Frank Campbell; one sister: Oma Wooster; and one daughter: Anna Lou Forthman.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the First Christian Church, Dixon. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Knollmeyer Lumber Company, Dixon for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Jennings include one son and daughter-in-law: Wayne and Carolyn Forthman, Dixon; two grandchildren: Aaron Forthman and Deanna Schmidt; three great-grandchildren: Melissa West, Robert Forthman and Makon Schmidt; one great-great-grandchild: Faith Forthman; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Precious memories of Mrs. Jennings will long remain in the hearts of her dear family and all who knew and loved her.
After resting in the Chapel of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon, funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Jennings at 10:00 a.m., Thursday morning, March 9, 2006, with Pastor Duane Mitchell, First Christian Church, Dixon, officiating. Mrs. Muff Mitchell sang "Does Jesus Care" and "God Understands" for the funeral service, and was accompained by Carmen Hauck playing the piano.
Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Jennings were John Gray, Charles Campbell, Ronnie Gray, Harold Campbell, Kirk Carson and Greg Campbell.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested by the family to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or the Donor's Choice, with envelopes available at the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon.
