James Wesley Abernathy, 90, a retired security officer, died of congestive heart failure Monday at Methodist Medical Center in Jackson. , Services are 1 1 a.m. Wednesday at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation is 4:30-9 p.m. today. Mr. Abernathy, a Simpson County native, was a former Raleigh resident. He was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church.
Survivors include: sons, Wesley Abernathy and James Abernathy, both of Richland; daughters, Evelyn Dukes and Frances Fulton, both of Jackson, and Mary Purvis of Raleigh; and 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
