COL. GEORGE W ELY DIES.
MONTGOMERY, Nov. 8.—Captain George W. Ely, for 37 years a resident of Montgomery, where he was well known, honored and esteemed, died at eleven o'clock Thursday morning at his residence No. 601 South Hull street. Death came after an illness of only a few days. The deceased was born in Harris county, Georgia, Dec. 25, 1846. At the time of his death, he was traveling passenger agent of the Southern Pacific railroad and allied lines at Montgomery.
Funeral services will take place from the First Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The pastor, Dr. Charles A. Stakely, will officiate. The interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.
